RELEASE NOTE ON LEAVE PLAN CALENDAR UPDATE VERSION 1.1.1
This release improves the accuracy of the Leave Plan feature by ensuring employees and supervisors see only the available leave days remaining for planning, rather than the full annual entitlement. This update eliminates confusion around leave balances and helps both employees and supervisors make better-informed decisions when planning and approving leave.
Accurate Leave Balance Display in Leave Plan
What's New:
The Leave Plan calendar now displays only the available leave days an employee has left to plan, rather than showing their full annual entitlement. For example, if an employee is entitled to 20 days annually but has already taken 10 days, the Leave Plan will now show "10 days total" instead of "20 days total."
Why It Matters:
Before now, the Leave Plan showed employees their full annual entitlement even after they had already used part of it. For instance, if an employee had 20 leave days for the year and had already taken 10 days between January and April, her Leave Plan in June would still display "20 days total."
This same misleading information appeared on her supervisor's view when reviewing her leave plan.
This created confusion for supervisors who knew the employee had already used some days, and it also misled employees into thinking they still had access to their full entitlement when they didn't.
While the system correctly prevented employees from applying for more leave than they actually had, the Leave Plan itself was visually deceptive and reduced trust in the data.
With this update, both employees and supervisors now see an accurate reflection of what's truly available for planning, making the entire leave planning process clearer and more reliable.
