Why Am I Seeing an “Insufficient Time in Company” Error When Applying for a Loan?

This article explains why an employee may receive an “Insufficient Time in Company” error when applying for a loan even after meeting the required employment period. It covers possible reasons for the error, such as incorrect or outdated employment records, and provides guidance on the steps to take to resolve the issue.

The Insufficient Time in Company error appears when our eligibility engine is unable to confirm that you have met the minimum employment requirement for the loan product you are applying for.In most cases, this is caused by incorrect employment records, delayed HR data synchronization, a recent employee profile update, or a mismatch between your actual employment duration and the employment date stored in the system. Meeting the required tenure in reality does not always mean the system can verify it successfully.

Some common cause include:

  1. The employee's Date of Employment is incorrect in the system
  2. The employee was recently migrated, rehired, or transferred and the tenure calculation has not updated correctly.
  3. The employee meets the requirement based on total service history, but the system is using the current employment record.
  4. The employee recently became eligible, and the eligibility engine has not refreshed yet.
  5. The employee is applying for a loan product with a longer minimum tenure requirement than expected.

Employee Benefits eligibility is tied to specific loan product rules and employment history maintained in SeamlessHR. Employee Benefits products include Salary Advance, Earned Wage Access (EWA), Flexi Loans,Maxi Loan, Utility purchase.

Different Employee Benefits products have different eligibility requirements.

Product Minimum Employment Requirement
Earned Wage Access (EWA) 2 consecutive months
Salary Advance 1 consecutive month
Flexi Loan 3 - 5 consecutive months
Maxi Loan 6 consecutive months

These requirements are subject to company eligibility rules and risk assessment criteria.

How to resolve this

1. Confirm the product you are applying for

Many employees assume all Employee Benefits products have the same tenure requirement. For example:
  • An employee eligible for EWA may not yet qualify for a Maxi Loan.
  • An employee eligible for Salary Advance may not yet qualify for certain long-term loan products.

Verify the specific product you are applying for and compare it with the required employment period.

2. Check your employment start date

Review your employee profile and confirm that your employment date is correct.Pay attention to:
  • Date of first employment
  • Date of confirmation
  • Rehire date (if applicable)
  • Transfer date (if applicable)

An incorrect employment date is the most common cause of this error.

3. Consider recent HR changes

If any of the following actions happened recently, your tenure calculation may require refresh:
  • Employee profile correction
  • Rehire or reinstatement
  • Transfer between subsidiaries
  • Data migration from another system
  • Employment record update

Allow time for synchronization and eligibility recalculation after major profile changes.

4. Verify that you have completed consecutive months of employment

The system measures eligibility based on consecutive employment duration. For example:
  • Joined on January 20 and applying on March 1 may not satisfy a full 2-month requirement.
  • Joined on January 1 and applying on March 5 would typically satisfy a 2-month requirement.

The calculation is based on the employment record stored in the system.

5. Log out and try again later

If your HR team recently updated your record:
  1. Sign out of Breeze.
  2. Wait for synchronization to complete.
  3. Sign in again.
  4. Reattempt the application.

Many eligibility errors resolve automatically after the next system refresh.

6. Contact your HR team

If your tenure requirement has genuinely been met, ask your HR administrator to verify:
  • Employment start date
  • Employment status
  • Employee ID
  • Benefit eligibility settings
  • Active payroll records

They may need to correct the underlying record before eligibility can be recalculated.
