You Have Reached the Maximum Number of Loans Allowed at a Time — What Does This Mean?

If you receive "You Have Reached the Maximum Number of Loans at a Time" while trying to apply for another loan, this usually means you are unable to take an additional loan based on your current loan eligibility or existing loan amount. Eligible employees may take more than one loan, but the additional loan amount is subject to the employee's maximum eligible amount and other loan eligibility conditions. For example, if your maximum eligible amount is ₦2,000 and you previously took ₦1,000, you may be able to take another ₦1,000, subject to the applicable eligibility checks.

Likely scenarios when an employee is unable to apply for another loan:

1. The employee has already taken their maximum eligible loan amount.
2. The employee is eligible for multiple loans but is restricted by a debt-to-income ratio based on their existing loan repayment.
3. The employee has received confirmation that they can take more than one loan but is still unable to apply after meeting the applicable conditions. This requires further investigation if no documented eligibility restriction explains the error.

How to resolve this

  • Check whether you already have an active loan - If you already have a loan, check whether you have used your maximum eligible loan amount.

  • Check your remaining eligible amount - If your maximum eligible amount is ₦2,000 and you previously borrowed ₦1,000, you may be able to apply for another ₦1,000, subject to other eligibility conditions. If you have already taken the full ₦2,000, you cannot apply for an additional amount based on that eligibility.
  •
Check whether you are receiving a debt-to-income-ratio error -Your existing loan repayment may be affecting your eligibility. Monthly loan repayment should not exceed one-third of your net monthly salary. If this restriction applies, reduce the amount you are trying to apply for and retry. You may also liquidate the pending loan, where applicable, and then retry.
