Release Notes: Benefits V2 on Breeze

Benefits v2 repositions Breeze's financial products as a lifestyle benefits platform, moving away from loan-first language. We've redesigned the Breeze benefits experience around daily financial utility introducing bill payments, utility services, and improved product framing so that employees have compelling reasons to return regularly.

Benefits Onboarding and Personalization

To begin:
  1. Log in to Breeze

 

2. Navigate to Benefits from the left sidebar


  1. The splash screen loads automatically for first-time users
  2. Tap "Unlock my benefits" to start setup. Users personalize their benefits by selecting preferred product categories.
  • Mandatory pre-selected items: Access credits, Airtime & Data, Pay my Bills
  • Selectable items: Users can select a maximum 5 additional items. Hovering over a new tag when at cap shows a tooltip: "Remove one to add this"
    • User can skip the onboarding flow for later

 

Benefits Dashboard

The user lands on the dashboard after onboarding is completed or skipped. The dashboard is divided into five zones.

 

A. Balance Card, Streaks, points, and credit score

Total Available to you: Displays the total value of available financial benefits at a glance. This is a sum of the Advance, Flexi, Maxi, rewards and offers

  • Cash - Is the sum of the eligible amounts for Advance, Flexi and Maxi.
  • Rewards and offers - Are coming in the subsequent iterations

To improve product stickiness, the release adds a lightweight gamification layer:b. Activity Streak - grows when you access the benefit modulec. Points - earned when certain actions are carried out. (They will be redeemable for rewards in future iterations)d. Credit Score - This score comes from the Credit Bureau. It blends in-app and external repayment behavior, which in turn shapes how much an employee can access.

 

B. Your Benefits Journey

This showcases salary-linked credit in four progressive tiers:
  • Earned Salary —Access up to 70% of earned salary (max ₦1M) up to 3 times monthly after 7 days from payday; 3% interest fee; repayable on the next payday.
  • Advanced—Access up to 50% of monthly salary (max ₦1M) with unlimited withdrawals within the limit; 4% interest fee.
  • Flexi— A 3–5-month loan of up to ₦3M at 3% monthly interest + 1% management fee; requires 3 salary payments, 33% DTI, and insurance fee.
  • Maxi: A 6–12-month loan of up to ₦5M at 3% monthly interest + 1% management fee; requires 4 salary payments, 33% DTI, and includes death/job loss insurance.

Each card shows the eligibility criteria for each loan benefit type.

 

Apply for Earned salary, Advance Maxi, Flexi

The process for applying for these benefits remain almost the same as before:
  1. Locate the Advance/Maxi/Flexi column on the Benefits Journey card
  2. Tap "Take it or Use Now"
  3. The page opens with a 4-step flow:
  4. Step 1 – Amount: Enter an amount
  5. Step 2 – Your Details: Confirm personal information
  6. Step 3 – Payment Plan: Select tenure. The right panel shows the live loan breakdown: administrative fee, insurance fee, amount received, monthly rate, monthly repayment, total cost
  7. Step 4 – Authorization: Review and authorize the access request


If

 

The employee attempts to cancel the application mid-way, they get a prompt to indicate the reason for cancelling.



C. Essential Benefits for you

Airtime, Data, and Electricity purchase is funded by the employee's earned salary (EWA) balance. (Wallets are coming in the next iteration)

  • Airtime — top up any of the major Nigerian networks (MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile).
  • Data — purchase any of the major Nigerian networks (MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile) confirmed via a 6-digit OTP sent to the registered email.
  • Electricity — pay prepaid or postpaid bills across major Discos (EKEDC, IKEDC, and others), with auto meter number verification before payment.

How to top-up Airtime 

  1. Navigate to Benefits → Buy Airtime
  2. Choose a tab:
  • New recipient — enter details for a new number
  • Beneficiaries — select a saved contact

    3. For a new recipient:

  • Enter the phone number (up to 11 digits, e.g. 08012345678)
  • Select a network from the dropdown (MTN, Airtel, Glo, 9mobile — each with network logo)
  • Alternatively, tap a Popular Networks chip (MTN, Airtel, Glo) to pre-fill the network
  1. Below the form, a Recents list shows the last airtime purchases (avatar, phone number, network badge, amount, date). Tap any recent transaction to pre-fill the form with that recipient's details
  2. Once both phone number and network are filled, the Continue button activates
  3. Enter the airtime amount
  4. Review the order summary
  5. Tap Confirm to complete the purchase

D. My Preferences & More

My Preferences & More section lets employees access their personalized offers and other offers we may want to show them. They can edit their preferences.

Users can also join the waitlist for products that are not yet available.
